Vodafone, Flipkart partner to sell Rs 999 4G smartphones

Vodafone on Wednesday announced its partnership with Flipkart to offer a range of smartphones at an effective price of Rs 999. The move comes after Vodafone partnered with Micromax and Itel mobile to launch affordable smartphones.
These entry-level smartphones come under Flipkart's #MyFirst4GSmartphone campaign. The offer is open for both new and existing Vodafone customers. The company further provides cash back offers on the select range of smartphone models available under the offer.
How to avail the offer? User purchasing the smartphone available under the #MyFirst4GSmartphone campaign will have to recharge their number with a minimum amount of Rs 150 for 36 months consecutively. The recharge can be of any amount totalling to a minimum of Rs 150 per month.
The cashback process is similar as that of JioPhone. User will get a cash back of Rs 900 at the end of 18 months. It is Rs 1,100 after another 18 months, thus availing a total cashback of Rs 2000. The cash back will be credited to user's Vodafone M-Pesa wallets, enabling you to transact digitally or withdraw cash, as per their convenience.
Speaking about the offer, Avneesh Khosla, associate director - Consumer Business, Vodafone India said, "We are delighted to partner with Flipkart and extend this offer to our existing and new pre-paid customers. This is an initiative to make 4G smartphones available at a never before price points and thus, democratize access to Vodafone SuperNet 4G. We hope that this will help fulfill the aspirations of several million phone users across the country who desire a smart phone but couldn't afford one. It will also encourage current non users of 4G to upgrade and enjoy a richer user experience with Vodafone SuperNet 4G."
Ayyappan Rajagopal, senior director - Smartphones at Flipkart, said, "Flipkart focuses on ensuring a shopping experience for customers that is driven by a diverse selection and great offers. This association marries well with Flipkart's vision of making smartphone technology affordable and accessible to everyone in the country."
Vodafone last year announced its partnership with Micromax to launch Bharat 2 Ultra smartphone at an effective price of Rs 999. The cashback process is same- Customers have to pay Rs 2,899 for the smartphone at the time of purchase and have to recharge with a minimum amount of Rs 150 every month for three years. The buyer is eligible for a cashback of Rs 900 at the end of 18 months and a cash back or Rs 1,000 after the next 18 months in Vodafone "M-Pesa" wallet, thereby making the effective price of the handset Rs 999.

MS Dhoni’s return catch was big moment in the match: Kane Williamson

MS Dhoni’s return catch was big moment in the match: Kane Williamson New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson lauded his bowlers for drying up the runs during India’s chase in the second ODI here, terming Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s brilliant return catch by Tim Southee as a “big moment” in the match. When asked about how the bowlers and fielders responded while defending a low total, Williamson said: “Someone like MS Dhoni, he can finish matches when he is allowed to play his shots. He is the best in the world. That catch was big for us.” Williamson was happy with the manner his bowlers responded on a tricky surface and also gave an insight to how some adjustments led to the Indian skipper playing 37 dot balls. “On this kind of a surface (Kotla), scrapping was important. You needed to put the ball in areas where it’s tough to get away and try and build that pressure. It was an extremely good effort considering that the ball was damp due to dew factor...

Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation

Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation: Film Review Thanks to a sharp script that springs a real surprise or two and a pace that never slackens, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation rates as the second-best of the numerous franchise titles of the summer, after Mad Max: Fury Road. Armed with an absorbing mystery plot that does more than just connect the dots between action set-pieces (the most outlandish of which is dispensed with in a Bond-like opener), writer-director Christopher McQuarrie maintains the uptick in M:I quality established by the last two entries, and should land this entry within the series' customary range of a half-billion bucks worldwide. Working with Tom Cruise for the fifth time (if you include his uncredited rewrite on the last M:I feature, Ghost Protocol), McQuarrie benefits dramatically from extending the IMF team's official ostracization to a point of total disenfranchisement from the American government; in an early scene, the CIA chief (Alec B...
